Curriculum

Our Curriculum
The curriculum at WNCC is intended
to challenge each child at his/her
developmental level.  It is essential to
look at each child's physical, social,
emotional and cognitive level when
planning activities.  Some of our
exciting and creative activities include
pre-math, pre-science, pre-reading,
language, art, music, a professional
storyteller, dramatic play, practical life
and tumbling.  We have wonderful
trucks, trains, blocks, dolls and dress-
up clothes, as well as several
manipulative materials to enhance
your child's problem-solving and fine
motor skills.

Preparing for Kindergarten
Our program also includes many
activities to help prepare your child
for the kindergarten experience.
These activities include: identifying
letters and their sounds - identifying
numbers - tracing and writing the
alphabet –tracing and writing
numbers – learning number values
and learning to write your name.  We
also enjoy playing math and letter
games, as well as working with
pattern blocks.   Some of our other
learning tools include maps, scales,
magnets and many other science and
geography materials.    We also place
a  strong focus on reading to help
enhance your child’s language skills,
creativity and imagination.

Special Visitors
Some of our Special visitors include
the Newton Fire Department, Police
Department
and Drumlin Farm.  We
also encourage parents, grandparents
and family friends to be a special
visitor to share a story, information
about different cultures or to share
information about a hobby or
occupation.
